The Armat Battlefield Systems M41E4 Heavy Pulse Rifle was an American-made pulse-action heavy machine gun variant of the M41A Pulse Rifle. It was notably employed by the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the late 22nd century.[1]
Development[]
Successor of both M41AE2 and M41AE3 Heavy Pulse Rifles, the M41E4 was developed in direct response to the M56/L56A3 Smartgun's resurgence in popularity among Colonial Marines. Given the revelations of the Frontier War and the passage of the Colonial Protection Act, there was significant pressure from the United Americas' political leadership to reduce the Corps' reliance on equipment manufactured by Weyland-Yutani Corporation. When the Corps sought a heavier armor-piercing support weapon, influential representatives in the United Americas Assembly interfered in the appropriation process, requesting that Armat retool the popular and versatile M41 to fire armor-piercing 12.7mm rounds.[1]
Overview[]
The M41E4 fired the standard United America 12.7mm AP Caseless round. As with all M41 variants, the M41E4 was proven to be reliable and durable, and its powerful ammunition was proven to have enough punch to penetrate the side and rear hulls of all Infantry Fighting Vehicles in service with the Three World Empire and the United Americas. Furthermore, it was expected to perform effectively against the latest incarnations of the Union of Progressive Peoples' armored EVA suits. However, the rifle's higher caliber drastically reduced the weapon's rate of fire and it weighed a third more than Weyland-Yutani's expensive, metamaterial-lightened Smartgun.
To allow walking fire despite the weapon's weight and recoil, the M41E4 Heavy Pulse Rifle required the use of a power-assist harness and, like the M41A2 Pulse Rifle and its two predecessors, it lacked the underbarrel grenade launcher.[1]

Originally issued in 2199 for the Colonial Marines, the M41E4 also saw limited service in the United Americas' national services.[1]

- The M41E4 Heavy Pulse Rifle appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite as part of the Season 3 update and can be acquired from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 9600 Requisition Points. It can be equipped by Demolisher and Lancer classes.
- The Heavy Pulse Rifle appears to be equipped with a bipod, though it is unusable in gameplay.
