- "The M10 has a short range but high rate of fire. While it can be hard to control, the M10 is devastating in close quarters."
- ―Overview of the M10 Auto Pistol (from Aliens: Fireteam Elite)
The M10 Auto Pistol was a machine pistol manufactured by Armat Battlefield Systems and used by the United States Colonial Marine Corps and the United Americas Aerospace Force during the late 22nd century.
Development[]
The M10 Auto Pistol was designed to aid United Americas Aerospace Force space crews in defending against boarding parties. To eliminate the hazard of hot brass floating in zero gravity, the M10 used caseless ammunition. The gun was referred to as "high–speed exhaust from a wood chipper" by its testers at the Fort Paxton Proving Grounds.[1]
Overview[]
The M10 was capable of firing at an exceptionally high rate, making it devastating in close quarter combat against soft targets. Its low caliber ammunition made it useful aboard internal space ships and stations, being too weak to puncture internal systems or outer hull; that lack of penetrating power made it ineffective against armor, however. The M10's high rate of fire was also a drawback, making it difficult to control in freefall and depleting entire magazines in a single second on full auto.[1]
Notable users[]
Originally released in 2177 for the United Americas Aerospace Force, the M10 was procured for Colonial Marines service in 2181 for offensive boarding parties. The weapon was also used by private military contractors, local law enforcement agencies, and, ironically, became very popular among pirates.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The M10 Auto Pistol appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and can be acquired via a random drop by finishing a mission in Standard difficulty. It can be equipped by Technician, Doc and Phalanx classes.
