M. Bailey was a Cheyenne dropship pilot and technician with the United States Colonial Marine Corps. They were part of a search and rescue mission sent to LV-426 aboard the USS Sephora in 2179 to investigate the disappearance of the USS Sulaco and its crew 17 weeks earlier. They perished trying to guide their dropship down to LV-426.

Corporal Bailey had no time to fuel their dropship before the Sulaco opened fire on the Sephora. Bailey tried to guide the dropship down safely but ultimately failed.
