- "This, Major, is a Predator spacecraft. Its occupants, thankfully deceased, saved my life. Its metals and technology furnished me with a new one."
- ―Gideon Suhn Lee to Major Cabot (from Aliens versus Predator: Eternal)
Li Yat Sen, also known as Gideon Suhn Lee and Lazarus, was a mysterious, Japanese techno-baron who made his fortune from stolen Predator technology and continued to hunt the creatures in order to consume their organs and remain immortal.
Biography[]
Ancient Japan[]
He was described as a liar, thief, whore, and most recently a murderer after selling a false elixir to a village that killed 17 people. In retaliation, the surviving villagers hunt him down and beat him bloody. He only barely escapes, and in the midst of his escape, sees a Yautja spacecraft crash into the earth. Investigating the craft, he finds the bodies of dead Yautja and presumably consumes them.
21st Century Japan[]
700 years later, Li goes by the name Gideon Suhn Lee, and pays other people to hunt the Yautja on his behalf. He claims he is thirty-eight and has been for the last seven centuries, using the internal organs of the predators with the goal of staying alive forever. He owned several bio-masks and other stolen Yautja gear, as well as a Yautja Spacecraft secreted away that he was using to reverse-engineer technology from. Even though only a sliver of this technology had been deciphered, it was enough to become the richest man alive, surpassing the likes of even Bill Gates.
His researchers manage to crack the Cargo area of the ship, where they find Xenomorph Eggs. They fail to see them for what they are and are infested by alien larvae, which attracts Yautja to the area. One Predator, called Dragon, dueled Lee honorably, but Lee was a dishonorable man and used his knowledge of the Yautja Honor Code against Dragon. Even so, Dragon manages to slay Lee.
A Xenomorph appears at the end of the fight, however, killing Dragon with a headbite.
Behind the Scenes[]
The character of Gideon Suhn Lee was originally referred to as "Nor, techno-baron with a dark past", who "won't let anything stand between him and the secrets to immortality that the Predators hold", in materials connected to the initial comic book release of the series. The name was apparently changed to Gideon Suh Lee somewhere in the development process. Similarly, Becka McBride was at first referred to as "Becca Shaw".
