KJ–331B, more commonly dubbed Lebanon II, was a moon orbiting the planet KJ-331[1] in the Khadaji System approximately 21 light–years Trailward–Rimward from Earth.[2]
History[]
Early history[]
Lebanon II was colonized in the 2120s by the Three World Empire, with a colony dubbed The Wells being established atop above a natural spring producing fresh water with naturally occurring electrolytes. However, decades of shifting governmental allegiances and contracts with several corporate concerns saw Lebanon II heavily mined for its resources, which were sold at a premium while the colonists were forced into a state of squalor.[1]
UA annexation[]
Unbeknownst to the Three World Empire, however, the Union of Progressive Peoples maintained a secret supply base on Lebanon II.[3] In 2154,[4] the United Americas discovered the base and dispatched the United States Colonial Marine Corps to neutralize it. The UA annexed Lebanon II along with the rest of the Khadaji System against the will of the 3WE, declaring the takeover "a matter of colonial security".[3]
Brink of revolution[]
By 2183, Lebanon II was on the brink of revolution; its colonists, dissatisfied with the United Americas' general negligence and favoritism towards corporate concerns such as the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and Lasalle Bionational,[5] were encouraged by a resourceful small South American state to sabotage supply lines whilst making demands for better pay and equipment. As the rebels' activity intensified, the UA considered deploying the USCM to suppress the insurrection.[1]
Climate[]
Lebanon II's climate was hot and dry in summer and rainy in winter, with a mean temperature of 28°C and an atmosphere breathable for humans. Lebanon II's surface was terrestrial, and featured a network of rivers, springs, and ravines crisscrossing a barren rocky plain.[5]
Economy[]
Lebanon II's key resources included spring water, iron, and uranium.[5]
Population[]
As of 2183, Lebanon II's human population stood at 40,000.[5]
Points of interest[]
One colony, The Wells, was located on Lebanon II.[5]
