LV–871 was a colony world orbiting the star GL469 in the Far Reach of the Frontier.
History[]
At some point in time, LV–871 was terraformed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation; however, the effort failed. To ameliorate the loss, the planet's administrators struck a deal with Weyland–Yutani: the Company would continue to supply funding in exchange for bio–storage, with Xenomorph specimens being stored in the abandoned Terraforming Plant Number 3.[1]
However, the bio–storage duly suffered a containment breach, and a number of Xenomorphs escaped. The plant was transformed into a Hive, and the creatures attacked the nearby Trono colony. A United States Colonial Marine Corps detachment from the USS Carver was dispatched to evacuate survivors; despite rescuing several colonists, the Marines were overwhelmed by the Xenomorphs and the Carver was destroyed.
Two survivors, Sinta and Maxon Cregar, along with the head of synthetic administrator Waugh managed to escape via shuttle from Terraforming Plant Number 3, killing the Xenomorph Queen with the craft's engines. Afterward, LV–871 was left to the Xenomorphs.[1]
Climate and terrain[]
LV–871 was subject to violent dust storms. Despite the failure of the terraforming process, the atmosphere remained breathable. Local terrain consisted of rocky wastelands featuring mountains and rocky knolls.[1]
Points of interest[]
The Trono colony was the only settlement on LV–871.
