- "The Halberd is one of the fastest firing rifles currently in use, and is also one of the most accurate and longest ranged. Paired with reasonable recoil and a large magazine, it's easy to see why it's become so popular."
- ―L36 Halberd description (from Aliens: Fireteam Elite)
The Weyland-Yutani Corporation L36 Halberd, also dubbed the Halberd, was a UK–designed battle rifle used by the Three World Empire and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century. It was considered the Royal Marines Commandos' equivalent of the USCM M41A Pulse Rifle.
Development[]
The L36 Halberd was designed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation's UK Weapons Division to the standards of the Three World Empire's 2170 Military Procurement Plan. Armat Battlefield Systems hotly contested the contract being awarded to Weyland-Yutani, claiming that their submission met all requirements and was twenty percent cheaper.[1]
Overview[]
The L36 Halberd was one of the fastest–firing, most accurate, and longest–ranged rifles in use; furthermore, it boasted reasonable recoil and a large magazine. While most Halberds were replaced by the burst–fire LEM StG24 Storm Rifle in 2185 and transferred to reserves or sold on the civilian market, the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos continued to field the L36 for its superior armor penetration and stopping power. As such, the Halberd enjoyed a reputation as being the Royal Marines equivalent of the United States Colonial Marine Corps' M41A Pulse Rifle.[1]
Notable users[]
Originally released in 2172 for the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos and national services, the Halberd was also used by the Colonial Marines, private military contractors, and colonial militias. Weyland-Yutani also armed their Synth Guards and Wardens with the weapon.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The L36 Halberd appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and can be acquired via a random drop by finishing a mission in Standard difficulty. It can be equipped by Gunner, Demolisher, Recon and Doc classes.[1]
