- "Weyland–Yutani's L33 was built to be the best–in–class sniper rifle, aiming at maximizing damage with a single shot and unmatched accuracy at long–range."
- ―Background of the L33 Pike (from Aliens: Fireteam Elite)
The L33 Pike was a sniper rifle manufactured by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and used by the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos and the United States Colonial Marine Corps during the 22nd century.
Development[]
The L33 Pike was designed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation as a best–in–class sniper rifle capable of delivering maximum damage with unparalleled accuracy. To fit this role, the L33 Pike was loaded with optics and sensors providing the user with every datum necessary.[1]
Overview[]
The L33 Pike fulfilled Weyland–Yutani's brief, and as such was fêted as the longest–ranged sniper rifle in general use. Features included a gravimeter, barometer, anemometer, thermometer, and hygrometer to precisely measure and automatically adjust for atmospheric variables. The comprehensive package led to the expression "what's the downrange?" among the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos as a jocular inquiry into current meteorological conditions. 3WE–RMC member Warrant Officer Ramya Nandasiri held the record with for accurate long–distance shooting with the L33 Pike, hitting a target in Mars orbit at perihelion from the Ishikori-dome Solar Mirror Array in Earth orbit using orbital slingshot trajectories and mental computation. It took two years, given the distance, for her shot to hit home.[1]
Notable users[]
Originally released in 2173 for the Three World Empire's national services, the L33 Pike was also used by the Royal Marines Commandos, the United States Colonial Marine Corps, the United Americas, private military contractors, and professional assassins.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The L33 Pike appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite as part of the Season 1 update and can be obtained from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 9600 Requisition Points. It can be used by Gunner, Demolisher, Recon, and Doc classes.[1]
