"Gaia, let's get those engines hot!"
Riley (from Alien: The Cold Forge)

Ken Riley[3] was a Weyland-Yutani Corporation employee and the captain of the transport vessel Athenian. The ship served as the personal transport of company auditor Dorian Sudler, while Riley and the rest of the crew doubled as Sudler's security detail when he was conducting his audits. In 2179, Riley was tasked with transporting Sudler to RB-232, known as "The Cold Forge", so that he could conduct an audit of the research projects being developed there. However, while docked at the station, it was overwhelmed by a devastating Xenomorph outbreak.

Riley was killed when several escaped Xenomorphs boarded the Athenian and slaughtered its crew, causing the ship itself to crash into the Cold Forge.

Biography[]

Assignment to the Athenian[]

Riley originally took his job as captain of the Athenian in order to escape Earth, where he owed money to several dangerous people. By accepting the assignment as Dorian Sudler's personal pilot, he not only put himself out of reach of those he owed, but he also hoped the frequent, extended periods of hypersleep would allow him to outlive the men to whom he was indebted.[4]

The Cold Forge[]

"Airlock secured, sir. We're latched on."
Riley to Sudler, upon docking at the Cold Forge (from Alien: The Cold Forge)

In 2179, following an audit on Luna, Riley and his crew transported Sudler to the Cold Forge so that he could investigate the scientific research projects being carried out there. As Riley and his crew were not cleared to access the classified areas of the station, they spent their time relaxing in the communal areas while Sudler carried out his work.

When the Xenomorph test subjects on board were released by Seegson agents, Riley and his crew responded to the evacuation order by readying the Athenian for immediate departure. However, before Sudler could reach the ship, it was boarded by several Xenomorphs that quickly reached the bridge and attacked the crew. Although Riley tried to fight the creatures off with a handgun he kept aboard, he was soon overpowered and killed, in the process activating the Athenian's joystick ,crashing the vessel into the Cold Forge and seriously damaging the station.

Personality and Traits[]

When not actively piloting the Athenian, Riley was laid-back and casual. Although close with his crewmates, he showed little interest in getting to know either Sudler or his work, a fact that endeared him to the auditor.[5]
