Lara is a moral person who wants to do the right thing, however, she does have a ruthless side, such as leaving Eric "Pop" Izzard to his fate or even contributed to it depending on some accounts. Rather than help Lucas when he was infected, she had him put into the MAX berserker unit to be used as distraction so that they could get away.
