The KL-7 Toxic Waste Disposal Facility, also known as the SunGun, was an Alphatech Hardware-owned space station and toxic waste disposal facility orbiting the star HIP 67090 on the Frontier. At some point, the facility was overrun by Xenomorphs.

Overview[]

Built into an asteroid situated on the Frontier, the SunGun was a toxic waste disposal facility constructed by Alphatech Hardware and Javelin Kinetics, with Fredco and Schiller Biological also sponsoring operations at the station. The SunGun was equipped with a sizeable magnetic cannon used to propel toxic waste canisters into its host star HIP 67090. The station was controlled via the Operation Center, with toxic waste being conveyed to the SunGun from the Tox-Bay; in case of a containment breach, an emergency protocol could be activated by two operators to untether the Tox-Bay by arming explosive bolts fixed to its tethering pylons, or by activating an emergency hatch purge from the outside. The SunGun's railgun was crewed by a single operator. In case of emergency, an escape pod was located at the top of the station's zero-G well above the Tox-Bay.[1]

History[]

At some point, the United States Colonial Marine Corps starship USS Melville docked at the SunGun to unload toxic materials. Before it arrived, however, the unregistered ship Liang had docked at the station. When the stevedores discovered that the ship was full of Xenomorphs, they were killed; an effort to hold the creatures by the security members was frustrated when Corchiani sealed the Tox-Bay, and the personnel were overpowered. Corchiani attempted to coerce Emhardt into severing the Tox-Bay, but was prevented from doing so by several Bug-Men, who destroyed the blast door with a plasma cannon, allowing the Xenomorphs to overwhelm the rest of the station and establish a Hive in the Tox-Bay. After the Melville arrived and received no response to their hails, company executive Beliveau sent his security force to investigate, quickly followed by Lieutenant John Henry's Marines after contact with the advance team was lost. Shortly after finding lone survivor Dinkel in the Operations Center, the Marines were assaulted by Xenomorphs and forced to retreat to the zero-G well. There, Henry activated the Tox-Bay's emergency hatch purge to expel both the Xenomorphs and Bug-Men into space before embarking on an EVA maneuver alongside Rake, Chen, and Dinkel to rescue teammate Vormitag, and ended up capturing a Bug-Man as well.[1]
