- "You think all synthetics are automation slaves? I'm more than human, not less. Physically indistinguishable. A free synthetic. I don't expect either of you to know what that means. Danny came up here to make a difference, and now he will. Thanks to him, my people will make Earth a post-organic utopia."
- ―Iris to Gabriel Cruz and Bishop (from Alien: Bloodlines)
Iris Humphries was a Synthetic member of the Minute Hand Movement, an extremist organization that opposed the Weyland-Yutani Corporation in the year 2200.
She formed a romance with Danny Cruz, and the two would infiltrate the Weyland-Yutani-owned orbital research station, Epsilon. However, a Xenomorph outbreak occurred within the station, and Iris ultimately intended to return a facehugged Danny to the MHM and use the resultant specimen to ultimately eradiate all organic, human life on Earth.
Biography[]
Joining the MHM[]
Iris was a member Minute Hand Movement, an underground terrorist organization that engaged in anti-company operations to defy Weyland-Yutani.
Her past is mysterious; it is unknown if she had broken free from her programming some time after her creation, or if she had possessed her own autonomy since the beginning. At some point, Iris would begin despising humanity, and desired to wipe out the species and replace it with a "post-organic utopia", populated with autonomous synthetics such as her.
She would eventually meet Danny Cruz, a security guard for the Grant Corporation, and recruit him into the movement. Posing as a human, the two subsequently formed a romance with each other.
Infiltrating Epsilon[]

The MHM eventually devised a plan to infiltrate and bomb the server farm of Epsilon Station. Upon hearing of her boyfriend's father's return to Earth (Gabriel Cruz was a respected member and veteran of the Company's security division) Danny was to steal the Wey-Yu security card that Gabe still owned at his request. Iris and Danny drove to Gabes's apartment, where she spurred her boyfriend on. Eventually, after an argument between Danny and his father, he managed to leave shortly after arriving, stealing the security card in the process.
Iris, Danny and a group of assailants would go on to covertly board Epsilon Station in a maintenance drone, killing two security guards. Though Danny protested their deaths, Iris defended herself by stating that one of them was reaching. The group progressed further, intent on making their way to the server farm. However, they instead encountered a bio-lab, containing tanks filled with deformed Xenomorphic constructs. They came across two scientists, Dorsey and Jackie, with the latter promptly initiating a vocal override. Jackie was shot before the lab went into lockdown, and the group were attacked by Facehuggers.
Masquerading as Dorsey[]
- "-- I do know where Danny is. But I also know what's about to pop out of your friend. And that's what you really came for. Not Danny."
- ―Iris Humphies to Gabriel Cruz (from Alien: Bloodlines)

Iris, as 'Dorsey'.
With Danny subdued and taken to the Xenomorph's hive, Iris hid within the biolab. She would eventually encounter Gabriel Cruz, accompanied by two Wey-Yu Defence Agents, Hamilton and Lewandowski, who had been assigned to return to the station and retrieve the 'Alpha Embryo' before its eventual collapse. Adopting the identity of Dorsey and assuming a "scared intern" act, Iris would be escorted by the others. However, Cruz immediately saw through her, as he had personally interviewed the real Dorsey whilst serving aboard the station. He instead had hoped that Iris would lead him to Danny, and went on to feign ignorance.

Cruz holds 'Dorsey' at gunpoint.
However, upon Iris snatching Hamilton's pistol from his holster, Cruz immediately held her at gunpoint, the latter revealing herself. She would reveal that she was aware of the Xenomorph species that Wey-Yu were experimenting on and berated Cruz for seemingly prioritizing a specimen over his son. A Chestburster erupting from a nearby corpse would ultimately give Iris enough time to escape from Cruz, and she fled into the depths of the station.
Uniting with Cruz[]
- "Well take him back to Earth. We'll take him like this if we have to."

Iris would go on to tail Cruz and Hamilton, now alongside Bishop, into the station's hive. Cruz would find Danny cocooned and facehugged. Cruz tearfully drew his handgun, intending to put Danny out of his misery, but he was promptly stopped by Iris, who held him at gunpoint. Iris expressed a desire to save Danny no matter what, even if the chances were slim, and Bishop agreed. Cruz eventually agreed with the two, taking Danny with him as the group retreated from the nest.
Whilst under the duress of the hive, the group retreated with Danny back to the docking bay. Hamilton was killed in the chaos, and the fully-grown Alpha was now hunting them down. Cruz ultimately had Iris and Bishop retreat to one of the station's exec quarters that was outfitted with a life-raft, with he himself opting to take the "long way around" to buy them time away from the Alpha.
Reaching the Life-raft and Betrayal[]
- "I wonder how much you really know about Gabriel."
"Are you kidding? Between Danny and all my group's intel on Weyland-Yutani, I probably know more than you do." - ―Bishop and Iris (from Alien: Bloodlines)
Whilst escorting Iris to the life-raft, Bishop noted several Ovomorphs nearby, and suggested taking a detour through the ceiling tiles. Iris was irritated at Bishop taking charge, and began berating him on his artificiality, deeming him a tool with no autonomy, likening him to Cruz. Bishop attested that her assessment of his patient was "uncharitable", but Iris was unconvinced.
The two arrive at the executive quarters, only for Cruz to arrive moments after, wounded during his skirmish with the Alpha, the latter and a horde in hot pursuit. The three quickly enter the executive quarters, Cruz throwing a belt of grenades at the Xeno's wake and detaching the life-raft.
Though momentarily safe, Bishop observed that the pod's hypersleep tube had been destroyed. Desperate, Cruz pleaded with Bishop to perform a manual surgery on Danny to save his son at any cost. However, Iris suddenly protested that a newborn Xenomorph wouldn't survive the extraction - she subsequently shot Bishop point blank in the head, destroying him and knocking out Cruz, before cradling Danny and citing that he's "finally gonna save the world."
Death[]
- "Al-ways remem--ber that it was you, Cruz. O-kay? Of all goddamn hu-manity's countless bil-lions, you found Prometheus' fire... And you car-ried it home. Remem-ber that...Whe-n y-ur world burn-s d-ow-n."
- ―Iris to Cruz (from Alien: Bloodlines)

Iris' body.
Iris went on to contact her superiors on a terminal of her and Danny's status. When she was asked if the host was "one of hers", she refuted concern, citing that only the specimen mattered. Bishop, surviving the attack, suddenly appeared behind her and disabled her with the butt of a Pulse Rifle.
Revealing herself to be an autonomous Synthetic to Bishop and Cruz, she once again scorned Bishop as a "sad little puppet", before telling Cruz that she was aware of the woman in the dark that appeared in his nightmares - that she was the end result of humanity discovering the Xenomorph species. She bitterly told Cruz that he will be responsible for the end of humanity, before deactivating.
Personality and Traits[]
- "I pity you so much, Bishop. I wish I could see what a sad little puppet you are... Just dancing on their strings, forever. You should have been like us. You should have been beautiful."
- ―Iris to Bishop (from Alien: Bloodlines)
Iris was cold and manipulative, earning Danny's affection only for him to be ultimately used as a vessel for her own malicious purposes. Though she seemed at least fond of Danny, and considered him important, it is unknown if she actually cared for him, as she went on to prioritize the Xenomorph specimen inside of him, rather than Danny himself.
Iris held a great disdain for humankind, and desired to repopulate Earth with an entirely synthetic population. She also despised other synthetics that still abided by their programming, such as Bishop.
Trivia[]
- Iris is a rare example of a Synthetic possessing their own autonomy. Other examples include Davis One and David.
- Iris' free will and hatred of mankind also parallels traits of David, from Alien: Covenant.
