The Horned Worm was one of the lifeforms created by the rogue synthetic David when he bombarded Planet 4 with a dangerous alien pathogen. The creature was named due to two horns on its head.
David found it while dissecting the intestines of one of the deceased Engineers, where he compared it to the liver worm found on Earth. It was also noted by the android to have a gait between that of a snake and a worm.
Like other pathogen derived lifeforms, it sought out potential hosts, inserting itself through an orifice (either the mouth or the anus).

David discovered the lifeform within the intestines of an engineer he was studying. It attempted to insert itself into the android's body; however, the android lacked an anus, and the worm tried to enter him orally. David was able to prevent the organism from entering.
David then commented in his notes that he was impressed with the creature's gait, though studying the Engineers was a higher priority for him.
