The heavy machine gun, or HMG, was a type of weapon that could be mounted aboard Exocolony Patrol Vehicles. Built to use 12.77mm .50 cased machine gun ammunition, the heavy machine gun was ostensibly used against large predators native to the Hyades Cluster; however, it was turned on rebellious workers by corporate security forces during the Hyades Revolts. Rebels also used the gun, firing it from horseback. Following the conflict, leftover 12.77mm ammunition was repurposed for the crowd–sourced Thunderbolt Mk.2 Autocannon.
