George Pratt (born October 13, 1960) is an American comic book artist, painter and illustrator who has provided art for several comic books in Dark Horse Comics' Aliens and Predator lines.
Biography
An experienced artist, Pratt’s work now resides in private collections throughout the world.
His graphic novels and comics works for major companies such as DC Comics and Marvel (including his first comics work, Marvel's Epic Illustrated in 1983, and his arguably most well-known, DC Comics' prestige format Enemy Ace: War Idyll in 1990) have helped earn him a reputation as one of the leading comics painters in the field. He also did the first series of covers for the critically acclaimed and long-running Batman anthology series, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight in 1989 for the story Shaman.
His work has won numerous awards, most notably the Eisner Award for Best Painter/Multimedia Artist for the Wolverine: Netsuke limited series for Marvel in 2003
Born in 1960, in Beaumont, Texas, Pratt moved to New York City in 1980 to study Drawing and Painting at Pratt Institute, where he later taught Junior and Senior-level Methods and Media, as well as Sequential Storytelling for seven years. He also taught for two years at the Joe Kubert School in Dover, New Jersey; did per diem teaching for the Master Illustration program at SVA for Marshal Arisman; was Visiting Professor for ten weeks at Savannah College of Art and Design; and taught full-time at Virginia Commonwealth University for three years.
Pratt now teaches full-time at the well-known Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida and each summer with The Illustration Academy.
