- "Genna. The death planet. Home of the unkillable Kalisk. Even father fears it."
- ―Kwei (from Predator: Badlands)
Genna,[1] also dubbed "the Death Planet," was a world known to the Yautja. The planet was chosen by Dek to be his hunting ground. It was also the location of a Weyland-Yutani Corporation colony,[2] as part of an entirely synthetic mission sent to capture a dangerous lifeform.
Behind the scenes[]
The setting of Conan the Barbarian was an inspiration for Genna.[3] The wilderness of New Zealand was used to represent the planet when shooting Predator: Badlands, in which said planet appears.[2] The developers of the film tried to think of what the actual ecology or evolution of the planet would be so the creatures encountered in the film would feel related to the planet, rather than taking a "cool/scary for cool/scary's sake" approach.[4]
