The GJ1187 System, alternately dubbed the Shānmén System, was a star system located at the edge of the Weyland Isles Sector on the Frontier. It contained the Union of Progressive Peoples mining planet Shānmén, which was the site of a pathogenic outbreak during a campaign of terror that became known as the Border Bombings.

The GJ1187 System contained the star GJ1187 and was located on the Frontier Spinward–Rimward at a rough distance of 11.47 parsecs and 37.40 light–years from the Sol System in the Weyland Isles Sector.[1] The Union of Progressive Peoples mining planet Shānmén orbited the star; it was in turn orbited by the Hyperdyne Systems research station Seneca.[2]
History[]
Originally the site of an Engineer facility, the GJ1187 System was later claimed by the Union of Progressive Peoples. The Jùtóu Combine mined the valuable substance known as Eitr on Shānmén, until the system was attacked with a dangerous pathogen unleashed by an alien ship during a terror campaign that, by that time, was known as the Border Bombings. The Righteous Fury, a vessel assigned to the elite unit dubbed the Jackals, traveled to the Shānmén System to rescue the survivors of the incident.[2]
