Predator: Bump in the Night is a comic book short story that was first published by Dark Horse Comics in the anthology series Dark Horse Presents, Vol. 1 #124, in August 1997. Published in black and white, the story was written by Duncan Rouleau and Steven Seagle, pencilled by Rouleau, inked by Jim Royal, lettered by Sean Konot, and edited by Bob Schreck and Jamie S. Rich, with cover art by Val Mayerik. The somewhat light-hearted short features some boys' backyard camp-out being interrupted by an encounter with a Predator.

In Dark Horse's Predator comics line, Predator: Bump in the Night was preceded by Predator: Hell & Hot Water, published concurrently with Predator: Primal, and was followed by Predator: Nemesis.

A Predator looms over the boy's tent.

Three suburban boys camping out in one of their backyards share scary stories in the night. One of them says he's seen a monster in a spaceship nearby. The others don't believe him. The boys go to investigate, get a glimpse of a Predator target practicing on birds. They escape narrowly avoiding it's notice. But the Predator follows them back home. Ends on a cliffhanger.

Behind the Scenes[]

Bump in the Night is notably one of four black and white Predator comics that have never been reprinted in color, the others being Predator: God's Truth, Predator: No Beast So Fierce and Predator: Demon's Gold. In fact, the only black and white Predator comic story that has ever been reissued in color is the Predator: Race War short story, which was colored when it was complied as issue 0 of the Race War series.
