Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone is a four-issue limited comic book series that was first published by Dark Horse Comics from October 2014-January 2015. It was also published simultaneously in the digital format via Dark Horse Digital. The story was written by Christopher Sebela, illustrated and colored by Ariel Olivetti, lettered by Nate Piekos, and edited by Daniel Chabon and Ian Tucker, with cover art by E. M. Gist. Mike Mignola also provided a variant cover for the first issue. It follows events aboard the Kamados as a mutated Elden, in control of a group of Aliens, tries to find Francis while Predators attempt to conduct a hunt aboard the ship.

Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone formed the Aliens vs. Predator component of Dark Horse's franchise-crossing Fire and Stone event in 2014/2015, and was released in conjunction with Prometheus: Fire and Stone, Aliens: Fire and Stone and Predator: Fire and Stone. The four series all share an interconnected story.

In the Aliens vs. Predator comics line, Alien vs. Predator: Fire and Stone was preceded by Aliens vs. Predator: Three World War, and was followed by Alien vs. Predator: Life and Death.

Plot[]

It's January 22, 2219 and dozens of light years from Earth, in the outer rings of the Zeta 2 Reticuli system, the fractured Geryon armada limps away from the horrific events on the mysterious LV-223 — resting pace of the ruined Prometheus, and home to a vicious Xenomorph horde.

Meanwhile, in a neighboring star system, a brutal race of alien hunters participates in an ancient and primal tradition — but their endless search for new and deadlier prey could result in chaos beyond measure.

The Geryon armada's escape from LV-223 is interrupted when Elden, a synthetic man, affected by a mysterious genetic accelerant, intercepts the fleet with a deadly vendetta. Warped beyond the capacity for mercy, Elden unleashes a Xenomorph swarm upon the Geryon's human crew.

When a hunting part of fierce alien Predators is instinctively drawn to the chaos surrounding the fleet, the human crew is trapped in the middle of the conflict. In a bid for survival, Security Chief Galgo Helder detaches his ship — the Perces — from the rest of the fleet, unknowingly carrying a Yautja stowaway.

The conflict between aliens and Predators reaches a terrifying zenith as Elden's synthetic body continues to evolve in reaction to the genetic accelerant. A pitched melee provides an opportunity for the mysterious substance within Elden to infect one of the hunters, and soon, a horrific new cannibalistic predator is born — tearing a warpath through alien and Predator alike.

Terminally ill scientist Francis Lane continues his futile and desperate attempt to prolong his own life. No sooner has Francis arrived at the stunning scientific realization that Elden could be the key to his cure, than Francis finds himself at the wrong end of a Predator blade, while Elden is now the target of the Xenomorphs' animal fury.

Of an original hunting party of five, only two Predators remain — one of which has been morphed into a bestial mutant behemoth through exposure to a powerful genetic accelerant. Now, in addition to the deadly alien prey, hunter must also fight hunter.

Ultimately, Francis Lane's theory has lead to catastrophe. Instead of restoring Francis's healthy tissue, the mysterious substance went to work on his sickness, stimulating the malignancy until Francis is racked with immense pain — his body a mass to tumorous growths.

Now, still desperate for answers and with only the dying Francis to provide them, Elden, a construct, must fight for his betrayers survival among the warring species.
