Second Lieutenant Feiyan Ko was a member of the United States Colonial Marine Corps and the primary dropship pilot for Echo Company aboard the UAS Endeavor. Ko deployed and retrieved fireteams to space or ground destinations with curt efficiency.[1]

Biography[]

Early life[]

Feiyan Ko was born in Heyuan, China on January 7, 2179 to one of China's hundred richest families. In her youth, she studied gymnastics, to which she later credited her excellent spatial sense and balance.

Service heading[]

Later, Ko enlisted at the Manila Embassy Recruiting Station in the Philippines. She completed her Primary Flight Training at NAS Punta Arenas, Chile, where she was noted for taking training aircraft to the limits of their performance profile.

Afterwards, Ko transferred to Armstrong ASFB, Sea of Tranquility, for specialization in Aerospace Interceptors. She graduated at the top of her class.

For her first tour of duty, she was assigned to the VMF-212 “Hell Hounds” aboard the System Control Ship UAS Midway. Serving in the Outer Rim Territories, her unit participated in the “quarantine” of insurgent forces at Nîtisân in 2199.

Ko served with distinction, downing five OPFOR craft in six weeks of operations, including a pair of modern HJ-77 “Fēishā” space superiority fighters sold to the insurgents by the Union of Progressive Peoples. Unfortunately, she was severely injured by an insurgent ASAT missile after being lured into ambush by a false distress call.

As part of her rehabilitation, she was provided a cybernetic replacement leg. She modified the leg with cable jacks that allowed the nerves in her leg to directly interface with a dropship's flight computer. The modification gave Ko the ability to input a limited set of commands at the "speed of thought."

Personality and traits[]

Ko had difficulty integrating with her squadron. She held herself to extremely high standards, and expected the same performance from others. She was a habitual pessimist, with little patience for small talk or casual conversation. Though few liked her, she was universally respected.

While Ko unquestionably remained a skilled pilot, Ko was reassigned to a transport squadron because the severity of her injuries were considered a liability in dogfighting. She was eager for an opportunity to disprove this assessment.
