The Weyland Corp ES-7 Supernova Dual-Action Electrostatic Shockgun was a dual-action shotgun manufactured in the 2080s.[2]
Members of the USCSS Prometheus' crew carried the pistol for self-defense during the exploration of LV-223 in 2093.
Overview[]
The ES-7 fired high-speed armor-piercing rounds charged with energy, which produced a blue muzzle-flash when fired. The weapon was also markedly accurate, and possessed anti-armor capabilities. The ES-7 was able to stun its target on impact, with a dual-action mode allowing it to be operated in both both pump-action and semi-automatic modes.[2]
History[]
The ES-7 Supernova Electrostatic Shockgun was toted by a team of mercenaries aboard the USCSS Prometheus during the exploration of LV-223 during 2093 and 2094. Pilot Emun Chance usedan ES-7 to finish a severly wounded pathogenically-mutated Sean Fifield, while B. Jackson also used an ES-7 against a surviving member of the race that had created the pathogen; however, the shot had little to no effect against the being's biomechanical pressure suit, and Jackson was killed shortly after.[3]
In the 2180s, the ES–7 was used by corrections officers and synthetics aboard the Weyland-Yutani Corporation mining station Erebos.[2] As of 2185, the weapon was worth $1200.[1]

A Benelli M3T Super 90.
The shotgun props used in Prometheus were based on the Benelli M3T Super 90.[4] Few modifications were actually made to the weapons for the film: the bottom of the grip, the folding stock and the part of the body under the ejection port were painted in orange. The shotgun's muzzle flash was digitally altered to blue in post-production.
