"A life is a life, O'Neal."
Doc to O'Neal regarding the PMC (from Aliens: Colonial Marines - No Man Left Behind)

Doc was a member of the United States Colonial Marine Corps. He was part of a search and rescue mission sent to LV-426 aboard the USS Sephora in 2179 to investigate the disappearance of the USS Sulaco and its crew 17 weeks earlier. Doc was a military nurse serving with Private O'Neal's squad.[2] He went M.I.A. early during the mission.[1]

Biography[]

Investigating the Sulaco[]

"What the hell just happened?"
Doc to O'Neal (from Aliens: Colonial Marines - No Man Left Behind)

Doc was attached to Rhino 2-1, one of the advanced teams sent aboard the USS Sulaco to investigate the ship and respond to a Marine distress call. They soon encountered the Xenomorphs that had infested the ship. While O'Neal's squad was holding off attacking Xenomorphs, Weyland-Yutani PMCs arrived on the scene, killing the Xenomorphs and two of O'Neal's squad, leaving only Doc and O'Neal alive.

O'Neal dragged Doc to safety and the two headed for the Marine signal. O'Neal was attacked by Xenomorph Drones as they found the signal, forcing Doc to have to spring into action. He picked up an M56 Smartgun from a deceased Marine and killed the three Drones, saving O'Neal.[2]

The PMC[]

"We can still save him."

O'Neal praised him and they heard someone calling for help. They went over to investigate to find one of the PMCs who was injured. They found it it was him who called for help using a dead Marine's headset.

O'Neal became enranged but Doc wanted to help the man. However, before Doc could do anything, a Chestburster erupted out of the PMC's chest, startling Doc. O'Neal killed the Chestburster and confirmed to Doc that the PMC was dead, telling Doc that they should head back to the Sephora's hangar bay as Captain Cruz was thawing out more Marines who would need Doc's help.[2]

Back on the Sephora[]

"My job is to survive."
Doc thinking to himself (from Aliens: Colonial Marines - No Man Left Behind)

Back on the Sephora, Doc realized it was no longer just his job to save lives but to survive as well. He had ditched his medical gown for M3 Pattern Personal Armor and had equipped himself with an M41A Pulse Rifle MK2.[2]

Personality and Traits[]

"I've never killed anyone before."
"Still haven't."
Doc and O'Neal (from Aliens: Colonial Marines - No Man Left Behind)

Doc had been in the field many times but he didn't really do too well when faced with the Xenomorphs, cracking under the pressure. However, he managed to build up the courage to use an M56 Smartgun to save O'Neal from Xenomorphs. Naturally, as a military nurse, Doc was extremely compassionate and caring for human life, even attempting to save a member of the hostile Weyland-Yutani forces. By the time Doc arrived back on the Sephora, he had realized that he would need to shape up if he wished to survive.

Equipment[]

"We might turn you into a Jarhead yet."
O'Neal to Doc (from Aliens: Colonial Marines - No Man Left Behind)

While on the Sulaco, Doc carried an M4A3 Service Pistol for self-defense. He later used an M56 Smartgun to save O'Neal. Back on the Sephora, Doc equipped himself with a brown bess colored M41A Pulse Rifle MK2. At this point Doc was outfitted with standard-issue M3 Pattern Personal Armor for protection; his armor was fitted with a TNR Shoulder Lamp attachment for illumination. He had customized his chest armor with an orange skull and crossbones with a knife stuck in the skull, strange for his personality. He also had another lamp attached to his left hip.

Trivia[]

  • Doc's Pulse Rifle seen at the end of the comic is painted brown, a reference to how the original M41A Pulse Rifle props in Aliens were actually painted in Humbrol 170 "Brown Bess".
  • Doc is completely absent from the story of Aliens: Colonial Marines, leaving his fate unknown.
  • Doc and O'Neal encountering Weyland-Yutani PMCs on the Sulaco contradict the events in Aliens: Colonial Marines, where O'Neal had no clue that Weyland-Yutani was on the ship.
