Diane Verlaine

Diane Verlaine was the captain and owner of the commercial transport vessel USCSS Torrens in 2137. In 2137, she was hired by Weyland-Yutani to transport Christopher Samuels, Nina Taylor and Amanda Ripley to Sevastopol Station to recover the flight recorder of the USCSS Nostromo. They arrived at the station on December 11, 2137.

It is generally assumed that Verlaine and the rest of the Torrens crew were killed or otherwise incapacitated by a Xenomorph Drone that got aboard the ship while it was attached to Sevastopol; however, there is no confirmation of this beyond her not replying to Ripley's radio messages — she could have just as likely been hiding from the Drone and not replying to Ripley for fear of being heard by the creature.
