The Darwin Era was a Xenomorph cult that believed that the Xenomorphs were the next step in human evolution. To this end the cult did what most (if not all) Xenomorph cultists did, allow themselves to be implanted with chestbursters.
One of the differences between this cult and others is that they use technology to delay the gestation, allowing the host to survive longer and be recognized as part of the hive. The elite group within the cult that have been chosen for this particular "honor" are known as the Guardians, which contains even more elite sub-groupings such as the Numinous.
