"Maybe you saw the W-Y press release about Renegade XM? "Terrorists and cowards." That's what the suits called us. But I'd say the real terrorist is somebody who rapes planets and screws over legions of workers. And as for the cowards...We're the ones fighting on the front lines while they hide in their boardrooms."
Cutter Vasquez (from Aliens: Aftermath)

Cutter Vaquez was a member of the extremist journalist group, Renegade XM. He was nephew to Colonial Marine Jenette Vasquez, and he sought to uncover the truth behind her disappearance on LV-426 35 years prior.

Biography[]

Loss of Family[]

When Cutter was eight years old, he and his parents boarded a Weyland-Yutani transport vessel to a mining colony. However, Wey-Yu was facing a major budget crisis following their departure with the 'extrasolar colonization administration', and decided to deactivate several Hypersleep chambers across four freighters, killing many of those still in stasis. Of those within the ship he boarded, Cutter was the only survivor. This, alongside the mysterious disappearance of his USCM aunt, Jenette following a mission on LV-426, resulted in a deep-seated hatred towards the Company.

Arriving at Hadley's Hope[]

"The extrasolar colonization administration reached out. Apparently, they're big fans of Renegade XM. They offered up some intel getting us this far. So long as we transport the goods...We make bank and deliver the ultimate fuck you to W-Y."

Cutter and Renegade XM land on LV-426.

By the year 2214, Cutter had since joined an extremist journalist group known as Renegade XM, and had proven to be a recurring nuisance for the Company. Most recently, Cutter and his crew had boarded a Weyland-Yutani fuelling station and destroyed it with a remote detonator. Though Cutter was thrilled with the result, crewmate Lela Rosewood was less than impressed. Regardless, he requested that Lela plug in the station's retrieved data drive in hopes of any information on the whereabouts of Hadley's Hope, his aunt's last known location. The data drive revealed the colony's whereabouts, and the crew landed on the planet LV-426 to lay low from the Company and make repairs, and for Cutter to search for any remnants of his aunt.

Upon exploring the destroyed interior of the colony, the crew encounter several Xenomorph corpses, with Cutter specifically finding Vasquez's Smartgun. Suddenly, the floor gives way under crewmember Woody Ballesteros' feet, incapacitating him, and Carter tethered down to help him, before further exploring the depths of the colony.

Cutter encounters Subject Zero.

Cutter subsequently encountered 'Subject Zero' within a hypersleep chamber, the first colonist to be infected following the original Xenomorph outbreak, and revealed to Woody that he was contacted by the 'extrasolar colonization administration' that, in exchange for knowledge of Hadley's Hope's whereabouts, he would retrieve Subject Zero and bring him to them. Climbing out of the hole with Subject Zero, he was suddenly approached by senior Wey-Yu member Yutani in the form of a hologram, who had been observing them since Cutter plugged the fuelling station's data drive into their ship. Yutani bargained with Vasquez that if he were to deliver Subject Zero to Wey-Yu, they would double their pay, alongside wiping Cutter's criminal record.

Death[]

Cutter's last stand against the Irradiated Xenomorph.

Though he accepted Yutani's offer, Cutter was suddenly attacked by a bioluminescent Xenomorph, who had previously killed Lela and the ship pilot Drake. The creature lunged at Cutter, who opened fire with his Pulse Rifle. Eventually, the creature got face to face with Cutter, who fired his rifle into the creature's stomach, exclaiming that if he died, it died with him. Their subsequent fates are unknown, but it can be presumed that both were killed in the skirmish.

Personality and Traits[]

"Nothing makes you appreciate life like a blast from the reaper's breath! Am I right?"
Cutter Vasquez (from Aliens: Aftermath)

Cutter was hot-headed and possessed a penchant for recklessness. Following the loss of many of his family members at the hands of Wey-Yu, Cutter held a great disdain for the Company, and sought to spite and underhand them at any given opportunity.
