Corporate security drones are a type of synthetic employed by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation for security operations. They were created largely to compete with the Seegson Corporation following their success of their Working Joe model.[1]
Visually, they are very basic in appearance, presumably an intentional design choice because of their expendable nature and the company not wanting to waste extra expense. As such, the Davis model overall looked visibly similar to the crudely-designed Working Joe androids. Unlike Joes, however, they seem to possess the same amount of intelligence as any normal synthetic, with at least one security synth, Davis One, breaking its programming and gaining its own personality and free will.
Overall they seem to have more in common with combat androids and can even be called as such since they are built for combat as well as security. Although being unable to physically feel pain, their systems are built to correspond to certain injuries and suggest alternative behavior for greater effectiveness, or even retreat from battle if necessary.[2]
Later years saw Weyland-Yutani employ the use of a more advanced model known as Franklin.[3] Technically Combat Androids, Franklins possessed a metal exterior, with Davis noting that they do not use a "nearfield" and are "nothing like" his model.
Both Davis and Franklin units were used with and against the Colonial Marines and Royal Marine Commandos.[4]
By 2160, the Geneva Convention forbade the use of Combat Synths, resulting in both the Davis and Franklin models being discontinued.[5]

Trivia[]
- In the Aliens versus Predator video game, Weyland-Yutani utilized an unknown model of synthetic to act as additional security onboard the USS Ferarco and Gateway Station. These synthetics looked like regular humans and were armed with shotguns.
