Composition D17 Gel was an experimental flamethrower fuel manufactured by Armat Battlefield Systems and employed by the United States Colonial Marine Corps. It was designed by Armat's chemical warfare division to ameliorate the drawbacks of regular flamethrowers. When stored, the D17 was inert and non-flammable, and could only be ignited by way of an electric shock; this prevented fuel tanks from rupturing. The X1 Fireball fired quantities of the gel which, upon being ejected from the weapon, would slather the target area in flames.[1]
