Chickens were a type of farm animal or livestock. Several chickens were kept at Rose Hill Farm, which served as the headquarters of the anti–colonization group dubbed the Earthsavers; during their attempts to stop the launch of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation colony ship USCSS Covenant, the group plied some of the animals with explosives and used them against Weyland–Yutani's security forces during the Company's raid on the base.
Chickens were also kept at the Fiorina 161 Class C Correction Work Unit and fed to the staff and prisoners.
The noddle-head, an avian native to the Union of Progressive Peoples mining planet Shānmén, bore resemblance to the chicken. The chicken shared its name with the dish Chicken à la King. Ramen, a Japanese noodle dish, could be topped with chicken. Fried chicken was sold by the basket at Cal's Chicken Joint on Guelph Station.
