The Chestburster was the larval stage of the version of Xenomorphs that were produced by the artificially created Facehuggers from the Renaissance.

The Chestburster born aboard the Corbelan IV was similar to its mainstream form in that it appears snake-like and as it erupts from a host of completing its gestation period. This version, however, was shown to enter a pupal stage approximately six minutes after it was born, after at least one full molt. It emerged from its pupa in a fully-grown state approximately ten minutes later, even after its pupa was subjected to an extended electric shock using a stun pole; it was heavily scarred on its head when it developed into its adult form.
It is unknown if "normal" Chestbursters go through molts and a cocoon before eventually emerging as adult but as it aids in the creature's growth, it could be possible.
