Dr. Betheny Clements was a Weyland-Yutani scientist working at the Forward Observation Pods on LV-1201.
Biographical information[]
Arriving on LV-1201[]
Right after her graduation, Dr. Clements was recommended personally to Dr. Eisenberg by Dr. Martin Sharpe for his research project on LV-1201. Eisenberg was wary of her idealism, but accepted Sharpe's recommendation. Dr. Clements arrived on LV-1201 in early August 2230. Initially assuming the research on LV-1201 was strictly medical, she quickly realized more was going on in the research facilities. She befriended physicist Adam Post, who confided in her that the Zeta Site relics were not Engineer technology, but a younger species.
Conflict[]
When Dr. Post was accused of stealing items from his laboratory, Clements suspected General Rykov to be involved and voiced her concerns to Doctors Eisenberg and Sharpe. Eisenberg then sent a harsh rebuke to Sharpe, urging him to ‘control his team, or I will'.
Apparent death[]
On October 4, just two days after this exchange, Dr. Clements was attacked by an escaped Facehugger. According to the incident review (#542), headed by Dr. Sharpe, Dr. Clements ‘failed to properly initialize the safeguard override system', resulting in the escape of the Facehugger into the general implantation area where she was working, and ‘reacted too slowly to the warning klaxon'. After being facehugged, she was put in cryo sleep to slow the gestation of the Chestburster inside her.
It is unknown whether she was still alive when Tomiko destroyed the Pods on January 7, 2231.

- It is strongly hinted that Dr. Clements' facehugging was not accidental, but foul play after she started asking too many questions. Similarly, Dr. Post is mentioned to have 'not returned' after supposedly being attacked by Xenomorphs in the field.

- Her surname could be a reference to Jonathan Clemens.
