The Begemot, or Riverhorse, was an aquatic hippopotamus-like animal native to the equatorial regions of the Union of Progressive Peoples mining planet Shānmén. When exposed to a dangerous mutagenic pathogen, the Begemot would transform into a creature known as the "Thrasher".
