"So this Chris woman, I mean, she's dead already, right? Well that sucks. Truly. But we've evac'd. We've come through hell, we've got everyone out alive that we can. We draw a line now, right?"
Ancane (from Aliens: Life and Death)

Ancane was a member of the United States Colonial Marine Corps. He was part of a 31-Marine platoon under the command of Captain Paget, aboard the combat ship Hasdrubal that landed on the planet LV-797, kick-starting a massive series of events that led to an all out battle for survival against a clan of Yautja, mutated Xenomorphs and the godlike Engineers.

Ancane was obliterated by the Second Engineer after it had ambushed Paget's squad.

Biography[]

Exploring the planet[]

"Captain? We've got a fire team missing. Chimo. He had Herrman and Garland with him."
Ancane to Paget (from Predator: Life and Death)

Ancane was part of the combat ship Hasdrubal on a mission to prosecute any potential illegal prospectors on the planet, LV-797, nicknamed Tartarus. The Hasdrubal was serving the interests of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which had scheduled the planet for terraforming.

Upon landing on the planet, the platoon was split into two squads, with Ancane accompanying Captain Paget's squad. After exploring the terrain, Paget's squad was met with a Seegson excavation site, and later an Engineer Juggernaut Roth suddenly radioed in, informing Paget and her squad that they had recovered Seegson asset-stripper Laurence Goode, who revealed that his crew were slaughtered by unknown assailants.

Later, Ancane informed Paget that they had lost contact with one of the search teams, Chimo, Garland and Herrman, which Paget informs Roth about.

Later, Paget heard the sound of Smartgun fire in the distance. Suddenly, two more survivors of the excavation team emerge and greet the squad - Melville and Captain Humble.

Plan to secure the derelict[]

It was revealed that Roth and his squad were caught up in a brutal firefight with a clan of Yautja. After they reunited with Paget at the excavation site, Melville explained to the Marines that the hunters seemed to be treating the ship as an artefact, and that they were protecting it from invaders, wishing to recover it's secrets for themselves. Lorimer instructed Paget to seize the vessel, reminding her of her "legally mandated responsibility" under the company.

Paget decided to send Sergeant Roth and his team into one of their dropships to fly over to the Juggernaut and secure its interior whilst Paget's team, including Ancane, approached the vessel by foot, attempting to sweep the forest using M314 Motion Trackers to flush out the hunters.

Ancane and the others were suddenly ambushed by a large number of Predators, and a brutal skirmish ensued, whilst Roth's squad eventually managed to get inside the interior of the derelict, with Singer citing that he could get the ship operational. Whilst Paget's squad was dealing with the hunters, a Yautja Elder, the Cracked Tusk Predator, who was stalking Roth's squad inside the Juggernaut, ordered all remaining Yautja to retreat to the vessel and stop the Marines. Roth's squad eventually managed to kill Cracked Tusk and get the derelict flying, with Singer intending to send it to the nearest USCM facility, Ganymede station.

Back at the Hasdrubal[]

"Hey, I'm fully qualified to drive this boat. I don't need a damn synthetic to show me how to run drives and nav."

With the Marines having returned to the Hasdrubal, Ancane is given the responsibility of flight deck management in Singer's absence.

It was revealed that Roth and the other Marines inside the Juggernaut had awakened a hostile Engineer, and it had taken control of the derelict, much to Paget and the rest of the crew's unawareness. The vessel suddenly departed to an unknown destination, and Paget ordered Ancane to follow the ship.

Arriving at LV-223 and rescuing Chris[]

"No -- we lost that ship, okay. But tracking it led us to a planet packed with Xenotech sites. We put a marker here, call in the big boys. That'll keep that asshole Lorimer happy. We go home now. We go home and call it a win."

For six days the Hasdrubal had followed the derelict until the ship reached the desolate moon LV-223. Ancane and Paget would go on to land on the planet and take an APC to Roth's quarters. Paget and Ancane were met with a surprised Roth, Freebody, Melville and Geryon survivor Jill. Relieved, the group all returned to the Hasdrubal.

Following the revelation that Jill's wife, Chris was still alive and stranded on the planet, Ancane was adamant that she was a lost cause, and that a line must be drawn to put a close on the mission to prevent further casualties. However, Roth desired to return to the planet to rescue Chris, and possibly Rucker, believing that no man should be left behind. Against better judgement, Paget briefed the remaining eighteen Marines in her platoon that they were launching a "volunteer only" rescue mission back on the moon. Ancane ultimately changed his mind and joined Paget.

Death[]

Ancane is killed.

The squad landed back on LV-223 and began exploring the terrain, before Jill suddenly picked up Chris' signal, who was still alive from within the hive. Following the revelation that Chris was impregnated with a Queen, Ancane and the squad were ambushed by a horde of Xenos. Chris managed to deter the horde after threatening the hive's Queen, giving them some time to recuperate. However, as Ancane was busy giving fellow Marines Ganz and Anders orders, he was killed in an explosion caused by the Second Engineer's gunfire, who suddenly ambushed the squad.

Personality and Traits[]

Though Ancane was a loyal and capable soldier, he did have his limits, and he was first to strongly advocate for a withdrawal from the operation, even if that meant abandoning personnel behind.
