History[]
Origins and early activities[]
Created at the beginning of the the 22nd century, Alphatech started out providing weapons to the national armed services of South Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. Alphatech later shifted its activities to the Central Space Consortium in the 2130s, and made major breakthroughs in magnetic monopole technology. Following this, Alphatech purchased the military contractor Decisive Solutions and emerged as the frontrunner in supplying the private military forces of the CSC's successor state, the Independent Core System Colonies. With the onset of the Frontier War in 2184, the United Americas and the United States Colonial Marine Corps took a hostile stance against the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and Alphatech provided the UA with military equipment including light weapons, vehicles, and railguns.[1] As of 2183, major Alphatech facilities included Alphatech ICMC64372 Sector Base, a clandestine listening post hidden amongst the kelp farms of the ocean planet Bracken's World, and the Joliet Mining Facility on the orbiting moon of Joliet.[2]
Bug-Men incident[]
At some point, Alphatech set about researching the Xenomorph species at Alphatech Research Station 2378 orbiting the star HD 122303 on the Frontier. However, the station and the nearby Alphatech Communication Array were attacked by the mutant extremist Ernst Kleist and his Bug-Men. Kleist used the communications array as his base, from which he proceeded to launch a number of terrorist attacks in the sector under the identity of deceased United States Colonial Marine Corps member Major Alan Bradshaw.[2]
Alphatech, fearing public fallout over the attacks, chartered the USCM vessel USS Melville and sent executive Beliveau along with a security detachment under a false pretext to the communication array to investigate the incident and absolve Alphatech of any responsibility. However, the USCM were somewhat aware of of the truth behind the mission and, fearing a Xenomorph outbreak, commissioned the advanced synthetic Liston to keep tabs on Alphatech. However, the mission went completely awry after Beliveau, his security team, and all Marines from the Melville perished. Despite the carnage, Kleist was dispatched and the communication array was destroyed. After the destruction of the facility, Liston filed his final report, confirming Kleist's involvement and clearing Alphatech of all charges against the company.[2]
