Plot[]

Part One - "Operation: Red King"[]

1944. At Castle Strucker, Super-Soldier Captain America (also known as Steve Rogers) and his sidekick Bucky Barnes eliminate a squad of Hydra soldiers before they interrogate one of them for the location of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, who is currently on a covert mission for Hydra's leader, the Red Skull. The soldier only responds with Hydra's motto (Cut off one head, and another will grow in its place), before biting down on a red dust capsule that burns away the flesh from his face. Meanwhile, Strucker leads another squad of Hydra soldiers on an expedition in the Himalayas. After reaching a remote lodge, Strucker asks for a guide to the lost city of Atillan, but none of the patrons respond. Only after Strucker kills one of the men with a red gauntlet - by crushing his skull - and attempts to torture a woman with the gauntlet's electric fingertips does a volunteer finally relent.

Reaching an entrance to the lost city, the guide explains that the locals sees Atillan's residents as gods and were fearful to disturbing them, believing he will be rewarded upon delivering Strucker to them. Strucker's assistant, Hans, sees hieroglyphs on the walls that depict the royal family of the Inhumans, the most powerful and revered clan of Inhumans that had mysteriously vanished. He is eager to know more, but Strucker reminds him that the Red Skull has sent him to Atillan to uncover a weapon to win the war, and he shoots the guide to avoid any loose ends. Hans opens a door to lead the expedition team down into Atillan's depths, but the guide smiles in his dying breaths and delivers his last words: "You wanted to see gods, but I took you to meet demons instead."

More hieroglyphics in the tunnels below reveal more of the Inhuman royal family's story: they ruled in peace for centuries until they were wiped out by a plague of creatures from outer space. Strucker and his team soon encounter two sarcophagi holding the skeletal remains of the Inhuman King and Queen, both of their ribcages expanding outward. Hans believes it is Inhuman tradition to bury the dead with what killed them, and he soon discovers the source of the royal family's demise: a chamber filled with strange eggs that open as Hans approach. A Facehugger suddenly leaps out and attaches itself to Hans, forcing the rest of the Hydra soldiers to open fire as more emerge to latch on to them. Strucker orders his men to retreat, catching and electrocuting a Facehugger that jumps at him. Only he and a few Hydra operatives survive upon returning to the surface, and he proclaims that the Red Skull will have his weapon as he holds up a captured Facehugger.

Weeks later in occupied France, Allied prisoners of war are forced into a dark room at a Hydra facility. When one of them, Dino Minelli, complains about the lack of lighting, a Hydra soldier responds that "they" don't like lights before sealing the door behind the prisoners. Minelli and the other captives are met by more eggs that slowly open up... and one of the prisoners is sliced in half by a deadly tail, which belongs to a fully-grown Xenomorph Queen as it shrieks at the humans. As she slaughters the other prisoners, Hydra scientist Arnim Zola watches the carnage over some monitors, muttering the Queen should be reined in if she does not "behave herself". The Red Skull appears from behind Zola, saying that they need the Queen to lay more eggs, and more specimens for the eggs, until he can unleash his alien army upon the world and succeed where the Fuhrer is failing. Red Skull triumphantly roars "HAIL HYDRA!" with a menacing grin, seeing the war as good as won.

Days later, the US Army's Howling Commandos, led by Sergeant Nick Fury, are searching for Minelli while Corporal Timothy "Dum-Dum" Dugan complains about the rainy weather. The squad approaches the village where Minelli was last seen, only to find a bloody massacre with most of the bodies having their rib bones exposed and protruding outwards. A weak survivor manages to tell the Commandos that Hydra had used the villagers as "test subjects" to breed "les monstres", before she screams in pain, and her torso violently rips open, revealing a blood-soaked Chestburster that startles Fury. He goes for his gun, but a circular red-and-blue shield slices the newborn creature in half before a boot crushed the remains.

Fury claims that he doesn't need Captain America's help, but Cap is aware of how the Sergeant's fiddling with his weapon says otherwise. But given how they may have a War of the Worlds-like situation on their hands, Steve proclaims "Uncle Sam says otherwise".
