Alien: Offworld Colony Simulator was a 2018 turn-based survival game for Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant.

As of 2022, the Alexa Skill link for the game is unavailable,[1] as are the game's supplementary materials and documentation from the Alien Universe website.[2] The game may be considered abandonware.

Publisher Summary[]

Announced on April 19, 2018 ahead of Alien Day 2018, AlienUniverse.com described the game as follows:[3]

...the ALIEN: Offworld Colony Simulator is a turn-based survival game that simulates a Weyland-Yutani Space Colony in security lockdown. Weyland-Yutani is inviting civilians to participate in an open Beta test of “The Offworld Colony Simulator” - an advanced system that simulates security breach scenarios in non-terrestrial colonies. Those that participate in the Open Beta will help teach the system’s AI to accurately simulate human behavior in the face of otherworldly dangers.'

Utilizing the Amazon Alexa service, players need to collect items, solve puzzles and explore unmarked territories to successfully move throughout the colony, unlock sectors and avoid captuer
[sic] in a Xenomorph-infested space colony.

Gameplay[]

While Alexa described the player's surroundings and their available actions, players could then use voice commands to explore, collect items or overcome hazards in the environment.

Players could also ask Alexa to describe their avatar's status, items and position by issuing an "Open Datapad" voice command, though players were encouraged to track their progress with pen and paper using graph paper or the provided Character Sheets as well.[2]

Via strategic conversation with Alexa, players would try to "escape from as many Colony Sectors as possible before being trapped by the Colony’s quarantine protocol, or falling prey to security hazards."[2]
