Alan Walbridge Ladd, Jr. (born October 22, 1937) is an American film industry executive and producer and former President of Feature Film Production at 20th Century Fox. Ladd was instrumental in the production of the 1979 film Alien, championing the project and providing the funding and means for it to be filmed. Ladd is also credited with the decision to cast the Ripley character as a woman, in the hopes it would make the film stand out from its contemporaries.[1]
