The 2B1 Vajra, also referred to as the Vajra, was a grenade launcher manufactured by Alphatech Hardware and used by its subsidiary Decisive Solutions Inc., the Independent Core System Colonies, the United States Colonial Marine Corps, and the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos.
Development[]
Developed at a corporate manufactory at the Independent Core System Colonies colony of Mansur, the Vajra was designed as a fully–automatic, bipod–mounted grenade launcher built for defensive positions. In 2188, an attachment to connect the Vajra to an M57 power assist harness was added, enabling users to forgo the bipod and carry the weapon.[1]
Overview[]
The Vajra fired 22mm HE7 "Jolokia" grenades, with the small size of those munitions allowing a significant number to be carried in a single magazine. This enabled the Vajra to unleash an impressive barrage, with a rate of fire of approximately one grenade per second; even so, common field modifications increased the rate of fire even further. Initially a defensive weapon, with all models featuring a stock bipod and a belt feed, the Vajra was adapted into an offensive weapon by using an M57 power harness and replacing the belt feed with a box magazine. However, while its destructive power was praised, the Vajra was extremely bulky and uncomfortable to use.[1]
While Alphatech Hardware's military contracting subsidiary Decisive Solutions Inc. received the first versions of the weapon, the Vajra's baptism of fire was in 2162 during the Depsang Conflict with the Indian Frontier Armed Services. The United States Colonial Marine Corps popularized the Vajra as an offensive weapon, with Marines assigned the Vajra often being treated as a squad-level artillery battery.[1]

Originally released in 2160 for Alphatech's subsidiary Decisive Solutions, the Indian Frontier Armed Services, and the Australian Commonwealth Army, the Vajra was later made available to the United States Colonial Marine Corps, the Three World Empire's Royal Marines Commandos, the Independent Core System Colonies, and several national armed services and law enforcement agencies from South Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim.[1]

The 2B1 Vajra appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite as part of the Pathogen Expansion DLC and can be obtained from Staff Sergeant Han-jae Park for 9600 Requisition Points. It can be used by Demolisher and Lancer classes.
