she could have simply abandoned the ship, and the alien would have stayed inside alone, it was going to be very simple and there would be no need to almost die in the explosion.

But what if someone had found the ship, goes on bord and the alien attacks. Also if weyland yutani find the alien than it would be fatal
It's possible that the Company could track the ship's location. Actually, I'd even say it was likely.
She could have gone about it differently though, for example she could have put in coordinates for the ship to crash into the nearest moon or planetoid, or even the closest star. Ripley would have then had time to make it to the shuttle and fly away. Of course it would all be for nothing either way if the Alien still ends up in the shuttle.
Yes, crashing was an option, as was done in Resurrection, but self-destruct is easier, more logical, and more practical.
Considering the company had already sent a message to Ash which stated that capturing the alien for the Bio-Weapons Division was priority before declaring the crew to be "expendable", having Ripley leave the ship floating in orbit with that creature potentially onboard doesn't sound like a clever idea.
Granted, she didn't know the creature had escaped onto the Shuttle at the time but if it had stayed behind, what if it later molted into a Queen and laid more eggs on the station (especially as in one of the deleted scenes, we see that the alien didn't kill everyone it encountered)?
That would be bad news for anyone sent to retrieve what they think is a single specimen and if the company were successful in retrieving something (like one of the eggs), that could be bad news for everyone back on Earth.
The deleted scene was restored in later editions. Keep in mind the filming of this predates the Queen idea. The idea for the life cycle was the facehugger hatches and attacks a host, Xenomorph breaks out, matures, and captures more men to turn into eggs. It then dies, leaving the eggs to be found later. A very short lifecycle, no queen.
Well yes . The alien will eventually die for hunger (and the 2 eggs he was doing with "eggmorphing" will die too) but if some one finds the ship the alien will attack the crew , And the company will send a rescue mission to the NOSTRONOMO so ,,, yes she need to destroy the ship
She already took care of that in the deleted scene, she used the flamethrower to burn both Brett and Dallas.
What do you think?
